The results of the analysis of the climatic conditions of the Southern Ukraine and their impact on the sowing terms of winter wheat are presented. There is an increasing trend of continentality index for the investigated territory. The recommendations on optimization of sowing terms contributing to the realization of the potential of modern varieties of winter wheat, based on the analysis of changes in the temperature and trend of changes of continentality index and changes in weather conditions in the Southern Ukraine, are given.
